Assessment Services at Washburn

Child Assessment Services

Washburn's experienced staff works closely with each child and family to understand both the parent's questions, concerns and worries and a child's strengths, challenges and development.

A thorough written summary is developed with recommendations for what services or activities would be most helpful for the child's individual needs.

Some common questions to help determine if an assessment would be helpful include:

  1. Has the child's teacher or pediatrician recommended a behavioral, emotional or developmental assessment for the child?
  2. Has the child been having difficulties with sleeping, such as nightmares or difficulty falling asleep?
  3. Does the child have worries that make it hard for them to play, learn or follow directions?
  4. Does the child have a hard time following directions, starting or finishing tasks?
  5. Has the child witnessed or experienced a traumatic event or had a significant loss in their life, such as a death in the family or divorce?
  6. Does the child often seem angry, irritable or rageful?
