2011 Program Highlights

Washburn Center for Children creates lasting and measurable differences in the lives of children, their families and our community. Highlights from 2011 include:

  • Case Management
96% of parents responding to a satisfaction survey reported they were satisfied with services, and 100% would recommend Washburn to a family in need of similar help.

  • Preschool Outreach
95% of parents responding to a satisfaction survey reported that services helped their child’s teacher work more effectively with their child to address emotional or behavioral concerns.

  • Outpatient Therapy
The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) is one of several measurement tools completed by parents, teachers and Washburn clinicians to help determine a child's progress. Average scores from parents completing the SDQ illustrated that children in the Outpatient program made clinically significant improvement in the areas of emotional distress, behavioral difficulties, hyperactivity and peer problems.

  • Home Front
93% of youth served in the Crisis Stabilization program were able to remain living at home, rather than requiring more intensive out-of-home placement such as hospitalization.

  • Family Focus
100% of families responding to a satisfaction survey reported that services were sensitive to their cultural needs and helped the family cope with problems. 100% said they were satisfied with services, and would recommend Washburn to a family in need of similar help.

  • Day Treatment
85% of children were able to graduate successfully and return to the same or a less restrictive level of care in school and the community.

  • School Based
82% teachers submitting the SDQ measurement tool noted that students in Washburn's School Based program improved or maintained behavioral difficulties, leading to increased success in the classroom.
