Washburn Center is committed to helping predoctoral candidates gain professional development and a solid foundation of clinical knowledge. These positions offer diverse clinical experiences and training opportunities which focus on the assessment and intervention of children, adolescents, and families.
Predoctoral Psychology Practicum or Advanced Practicum
Students looking for their third-year practicum or an advanced practicum experience will gain experience with diagnostic assessment, individual and family therapy, parent counseling and supervised psychological evaluations. Practicum placements are available in Washburn Center’s Outpatient Therapy Program. Students typically work at one of our outpatient sites in Minneapolis, Minnetonka or Brooklyn Park.
Practicum placements begin August 1 and are a year commitment. Applications for the 2017-2018 training year were due on February 5, 2017. Interviews took place in February 2017. APA-Approved Predoctoral Psychology Internship in Washburn Center’s Outpatient Therapy Program
Predoctoral Interns in the APA- & APPIC-approved program gain experience in urban and suburban outpatient treatment, collaborative opportunities with schools, psychological assessment and supervision of practicum students. Interns consult and collaborate with a range of team members within the agency as well as community providers, such as psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, case managers, school staff and county workers.
Clinical supervision is provided by the training director and staff psychologists. Agency-wide training and in-services as well as didactic training seminars for psychology students are a part of the internship program.
Training opportunities with Washburn Center’s Outpatient Therapy Program are available at the Minneapolis, Minnetonka and Brooklyn Park sites.
