Undergraduate Internships

Students studying education, human services, psychology or social work have found the Washburn training experience helpful in learning the assessment and treatment of children. Interns can receive college credit for their internship work or can volunteer for the learning experience.

Undergraduate internships are available in Washburn Center’s following programs:

Day Treatment and Family Focused

Within a group milieu, interns have the opportunity to work within a therapist/teacher team to provide therapeutic support to preschoolers and school age children. Interns help foster emotional and behavioral regulation skills, support emerging social and coping skills and promote developmental skills. Washburn Center’s milieu classrooms are located at its Minneapolis location.

The outreach program offers training and consultation to childcare centers, in-home providers and schools in Hennepin County. Interns assist Washburn Center staff with observation and screening and assessment.
