Families benefit from intensive in-home therapy when children, ages six to 17, experience social, emotional and behavioral difficulties to increase stability across settings and help prevent out of home placement.
Over nine to 12 months, therapists work with families in their home up to twice a week. Sessions may include a full family, caregiver only or parent and child to improve family functioning and help develop strategies so kids can live successfully at home and in the community.
Washburn Center’s staff also consults with school staff and other agencies involved with the family to coordinate care and identify additional resources.
After this program, most families will progress to a less intensive level of support. Therapists will help make a positive transition to another provider or program, oftentimes within Washburn Center for Children.
