Being in the Moment: Mindfulness and Reflection for Children and Adults
Tuesday, October 22, 2019
7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
United Health Foundation Training Institute at
Washburn Center for Children
1100 Glenwood Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55405
A growing body of research demonstrates the power of mindfulness and reflection in helping both children and adults attain improved emotional regulation, coping strategies, resilience and happiness. Being in the moment is the cornerstone of mindfulness – tuning in to how your body and brain are responding to challenges and stress. Equally important is stepping back from the moment to reflect on how you learned those ways of responding. The reflective process of looking back and moving forward is especially key to healthy parent-child relationships and to breaking intergenerational patterns of parenting that can undermine the health and well-being of children and parents alike. Mother-daughter duo Marti & Erin Erickson draw on research, practice and personal experience in this discussion of helping moms and dads be the parents their children need and the men and women they want to be, whatever their histories or circumstances.
