NEW:
Washburn Center is taking referrals from caregivers and referring professionals for Psychological Testing.
Children use behavior to communicate what’s going on beneath the surface – their reaction to the world around them and their perception of how that world sees them. With psychological testing, caregivers gain insights and a deeper understanding of what’s happening in a child’s mind and emotions; and importantly, what’s needed to support them in navigating life given their unique strengths and challenges.
What to expect when your child works with our psychologists. They will experience a variety of tests and assessment methods that help our psychologists observe, explore, and measure your child’s thoughts, perceptions, feelings, and behaviors. The psychological testing process can help you also get clarity about underlying causes of symptoms. Your results inform treatment services and goals, and ultimately help drive to better understanding, acceptance, and outcomes for your child’s mental wellbeing.

Is your child ready leap into Kindergarten?
Heading into a that first “official” school year is a major life milestone for kids — and caregivers. If you’re looking for insights to boost your confidence, our psychologists can help you get the information to assess what’s right for your child’s development. With testing and insights, you’ll have a deeper understanding of your child’s readiness to move into more formal learning and the school experience.
This assessment includes a clinical interview/developmental history and a standardized behavioral questionnaire(s) completed by caregiver(s) and a teacher (if available), and data obtained through a comprehensive cognitive assessment with the child.
This assessment is reassuring if you’re looking for insight on whether your child is ready for the demands of school. You’ll learn more about their cognitive and learning strengths, social and emotional skills, and progress against general development.
This psychological testing package is only available as a private pay service. Call (612) 400-6395 for more information about Cognitive and Developmental Testing options.
Discover your child’s gifts and talents as they grow.
As your child develops, you’re likely seeing how they adapt to school, experiences and learning. There are times when you know: “there is something more going on.” And, you’re curious “how can I help them grow even more”.
The pieces can come together through cognitive testing when you’re looking for insights for your child’s decision-making , problem-solving and skills. You’ll gain insights on how your child is thinking, learning and relating.
Through testing, our team can help you assess your child’s development, their gifts and talents and how to build on their potential.
Our psychologists will help you better understand where extra support, services or opportunities can boost their growth. Your child will also benefit from hearing their strengths and where their skills stand out.
This assessment evaluates cognitive skills including verbal comprehension, visual spatial, working memory, fluid reasoning and processing speed. This assessment includes a clinical interview/developmental history and a standardized behavioral questionnaire completed by the child’s caregiver(s) and teacher(s), and data obtained through comprehensive cognitive testing with the child.

Is psychological testing covered by my insurance?
Some insurance plans will cover psychological testing for mental health diagnosis.
The standalone test packages (Kindergarten Readiness, Cognitive and Cognitive/learning disability) are not among those. These 3 packages are private pay only.
If you are seeking psychological testing for another reason, a prior authorization by your insurance company might be required.
